Industry insiders note that as Chinese brands continue to make strides in areas such as intelligent features, driving range, and safety, domestically produced NEVs are rapidly gaining recognition among overseas consumers; full-year exports are projected to exceed 2 million units.

Recently, several Southeast Asian nations—including Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia—have successively rolled out a new round of tariff reductions on imported new energy vehicles, while also offering subsidies for the establishment of local manufacturing facilities. Driven by these favorable policies, numerous Chinese new energy vehicle manufacturers and export traders have intensified their efforts to build distribution channels and introduce new models within the Southeast Asian market, leading to the rapid formation of a competitive landscape across the region.

As the penetration rate of Chinese new energy vehicles continues to rise in right-hand-drive markets—such as Australia, the UK, and South Africa—the shortage of right-hand-drive model supplies has become an increasingly prominent issue. Some export traders have established dedicated production lines in collaboration with domestic modification facilities to enhance the efficiency of right-hand-drive conversions, thereby alleviating pressure on delivery lead times. Industry experts anticipate that models specifically designed for right-hand-drive markets will emerge as a key growth driver for exports over the coming two years.
